Should I Install An Indoor Or Outdoor Spa?

Adrian Spencer

A spa can be the perfect place for you and your family to relax and recuperate after a long day. However, you might be torn between installing a spa indoors or an outdoor spa. There are several upsides and downsides to each decision.

Privacy

If you install an indoor spa, you will have much more privacy than if your spa is outdoors. For an outdoor spa, you can always install a fence for privacy. However, you will have maximum privacy with an indoor spa.

The Weather

By having an outdoor spa, you will be able to enjoy the weather when it's nice outside. There is nothing better than soaking in a spa and watching the sunset or enjoying the fresh air. However, you won't be able to use an outdoor spa on a day when the weather is terrible. If your spa is outdoors, you'll not only have to worry about the weather, but you'll also have to wear sunscreen when you use the spa.

Entertainment and Social Gatherings

An outdoor spa can be the center of a social gathering. On a nice day, it's more natural to have a social gathering outdoors and you can also set up patio furniture so everyone can enjoy a day outside.

Maintenance

An indoor spa is much easier to take care of because there will be fewer maintenance concerns. For example, with an outdoor spa, you will have to cover it to protect it from rain and blowing leaves. You'll have to clean an outdoor spa more often.

Taking Advantage of Unused Space

An indoor spa is ideal for if you have an extra space in your home that is not being used. For example, if your kids go away to college, you can use a bedroom to create an indoor spa. If you do not have the extra space for an indoor spa, you might have no choice but to install an outdoor spa.

The Price

An indoor spa can be more expensive than an outdoor spa because there are more construction issues to take into consideration. For example, you will need to make sure that the structure of your home provides enough support for the indoor spa.

With an outdoor spa, you can simply dig a hole and place the spa inside. However, both decisions have their upsides and downsides and you'll enjoy your spa regardless of where you put it.
